-Dr. Deus, Site Director of Site-🅱️

SANDBOX:

Two Scientists Walk Into a Bar

"Name and occupation, please."

The doctor thought briefly about spitting directly into that fucker's face, but soon decided against it. Though she was usually the impetuous type, having your hands tied behind your back does wonders for one's impulse control. "Dr. Emma Carpsizch, researcher for the RPC Authority. Yet I have a sneaking suspicion you already knew that."

"I did, and we've also been over another thing: the RPC Authority does not exist. There is no record of such an organization, no indication that they communicate over any known channels, and you've failed to explain what it is exactly they do-"

"I CAN'T, you asshole. It's classified."

"I'm sure it is." The other doctor, whose name was unknown to Carpsizsch, motioned to the one-way glass present in the interrogation chamber. "End the log, we won't be getting any information from her." She didn't know what they were going to do, and she didn't care. The RPC knew what they were doing, and they'd have her busted out of these idiots' cage soon enough.

so where is emma then

reports indicate that Emma is in the custody of The SCP Foundation.

wh. what fuckin "reports"

What's SCP?

yeah srsly

the SCP Foundation is apparently a group of interest.

I've literally never heard of them in my life.

ok nvm i rpseek'd it and apparently the entry was literally created today

that's besides the point.

we need to bust emma out of there. we found where it is

well obviously we need to pull off a carefully planned entrance

Bombs?

bombs.

perfect

"Bombs?"

"Yes, sir." Dr. Maxwell slid back in his chair, by now thoroughly disinterested in the RPC Authority and their antics. "Apparently the RPC people were able to bust out the Person of Interest by bombing a small section of Site-D5, comprising about 5% of its total area. Most anomalies have been transferred or reinstated, so the damage is mostly fixed. But Emma Carpsizsch has escaped."

"Nuts to Carpsizsch, they *bombed* Site-D5. The structural titan, the crown jewel of the Foundation's activity in all of the northern United states, and they blew it up."

Maxwell wasn't sure where the Director was going, but he was sure it was unpleasant. "Yes, but only a fraction of its total area."

The Director sighed, turned to a file cabinet, and rifled through its contents. "To even dent the wall of Site-D5, they would have had to use thaumaturgic munitions. The likes of which we only know to belong to us, and the GOC."

"So…you're suggesting that RPC is a splinter of sorts?"

"No, impossible. A splinter of the GOC would only have access to Gen+ munitions, if we're looking at the evidence from the reports. Improbable that anyone infiltrating the GOC would get access to GenAlt stuff."

"Then… well, there's really only one possibility."

"What?"

Maxwell didn't respond immediately. After all, what he was actually about to say was impossible, wasn't it? But if someone were to pull off a heist on the immutable Foundation, then he supposed it wasn't too far outside the realm of possibility. "They're just like us, Director."

"You're being dramatic, Maxwell."

"Am I? They have anomalous items, like we do. They are militaristically powerful, maybe even moreso than us. Most importantly, they've hidden from us, like we're hidden from everyone else, and they're so well hidden we'd never even heard of them! Just like we were. Mind you, we're the ones who reached out to the GOC for a partnership. We're the ones who contacted Prometheus Labs, before that deal went to shit. We're the ones who started the Boring agreement. We're so used to being the silhouettes in the corner, and now it comes out there are people even we didn't know about."

"Okay, so how does that help us? What the hell do we do? Talk to 'em, have a friendly ol' chat?"

Maxwell sighed, a deep sigh. "I have an idea, but… it's radical, to say the least."

Well, we did it.

took y'all long enough tbh

"we did it." are you serious?

yeah, y'got me out

and basically exposed ourselves full force to the SCP

nothin we can't handle

yes, but the more things that happen that we can "handle," the more resources we lose

and the more resources we lose, the less things we can "handle"

this laissez-faire shit will do us no favours

what's done is done, complaining won't fix anything

you think we need to deploy LUCID ARBOR

you're damn right we're deploying LUCID ARBOR, and make it fucking quick

Bold of us to assume they have mnemoes. What if this is just a total waste of time?

they have an antimemetics division, you know

what?

Seriously?

yep

i was on mnemoes while i was over there, spotted secret logos 'n shit

Well then what are we waiting for?

Too radical for the Director, apparently.

Two pills, down the throat. Water was advised, but Maxwell didn't need any. It was honestly astounding that the rest of his team got so far without a strong stomach. "Does everyone here remember the sweep protocol, or do I need to give a reminder?"

Silence.

They definitely needed a reminder.

"You have all taken Class-W mnestics, as part of the Sleeping Giant protocol. We will be infiltrating a newly-discovered facility, hidden in Staten Island. They've used antimemetic perception filters to avoid detection, among other things."

A voice rang out from the back of the van. "What, uh… whose facility is this?"

"The RPC Authority. Don't ask me about them, because I have no idea who they are either."

"… okay."

-=LUCID ARBOUR PROTOCOL=-

LUCID ARBOUR IS TO BE EMPLOYED AT SUSPICION OF ENEMY FORCES WITH ACCESS TO MNEMONICS

Though the Authority preferred thaumaturgical destruction when raiding an Area, the Foundation was far more methodical. 3 agents for every entrance: one to guard the other two, one to disable the locks, and the guinea pig. Nobody liked being the guinea pig.

"1…

Jim, the north entrance's guinea pig, was just about ready to enter on the count of three, handgun cocked and at the ready, awaiting the third digit of the countdown along with two other guinea pigs on the west, two on the east, and the agent on the opposing south.

"2… "

Jim inhaled, and time seemed to slow down. This was his first mission on the field, and he knew that he was the least experienced of all the inexperienced men the Foundation decided to send on their first RPC raid. It was more of a test than anything, considering the Foundation knew that the RPC Authority couldn't handle so many agents on such a small Area.

Still, Jim was nervous.

"3!"

He kicked down the door, and though he didn't know it, it was all over.

-=PROTOCOL RESULT=-

THIS MESSAGE IS TO BE SENT TO ALL RPC AUTHORITY PERSONNEL

PROTOCOL LUCID ARBOUR HAS BEEN A SUCCESS

PROTOCOL LUCID ARBOUR IS NOT TO BE USED DEFENSIVELY DURING FURTHER ALTERCATIONS WITH THE SCP FOUNDATION

OFFENSIVE USAGE OF PROTOCOL LUCID ARBOUR IN FURTHER ALTERCATIONS WITH THE SCP FOUNDATION IS BEING CONSIDERED BY THE GLOBAL DIRECTORS

"Your proposal has been approved."

Dr. Maxwell, by then, had no idea which the Site Director was talking about. Multiple proposals of his had been sent out for review by the last meeting he had had with the Director. After all, it was a part of his job, overseeing the containment of the 15 anomalies in the Keter wing of Site-D5 and issuing proposals on efficient containment. Yet somehow he felt as if that wasn't what the man was talking about. "Which one?"

"To plant instances of SCP-2358 in public areas, along with the usage of the MP-filter."

"That… wasn't my proposal, it was Williams'."

"Oh, I know. We're also enacting the… the anti-RPC thing."

"The Backstab Protocol."

"Nice to see that we still come up with the worst of names."
